The journey

Bali is really two holidays — the coast and the highlands — and most people give one of them two days too few. Six nights splits it evenly: three on the beach at Kuta, three inland at Ubud, with the transfer handled and the days left open. Touring is added as you go rather than fixed in advance.

How the 7 days actually run.

    Arrive at Ngurah Rai, private transfer to your hotel, evening at leisure.

    A free day on the coast. The beach is minutes on foot.

  3. Day 03

    Kuta

    Free — the day most people use for Uluwatu and the Kecak dance at sunset.

  4. Day 04

    Transfer to Ubud

    Check out after breakfast and drive inland, about ninety minutes. Afternoon among the galleries and rice terraces.

    Ubud

    A full day in Ubud. Kintamani and the coffee plantations are an easy morning from here.

  6. Day 06

    Ubud

    Free again — waterfalls, a spa afternoon, or nothing at all.
