Pilgrimage

Devotion deserves preparation, not promises.

வணக்கம். Champion has arranged pilgrimage travel since 1991. What we can arrange, we state plainly. What is the temple's decision, we say is the temple's decision.

What darshan assistance means — and where it stops.

We arrange the travel, the stay, the transfers and the timing, and we apply through official channels for whatever a temple makes available to book. Access, queue length and timing on the day are decided by the temple and its administration — not by us, and not by anyone selling you a shortcut. We will never tell you a darshan is secured when it is a request, and we will tell you before you travel if it has not come through.

The journeys

Paced for the people actually going.

Every one of these is commonly sold compressed into fewer days. We do not, because the travellers on a pilgrimage are frequently the ones least able to absorb a punishing schedule. Each card carries the season it can actually be travelled in and how hard it is — the two things that decide whether an enquiry is worth either of us making.

All pilgrimage journeys, in no particular order.

None of these carries a price yet, and that is deliberate. Each is costed to your dates, your group size and the ground operator who will run it — not reverse-engineered from someone else's website. Flights from Chennai are quoted in the same document, itemised separately.

Stated for every journey

The four facts that decide if it is right for your family.

Official access

What is genuinely bookable through official channels, and what is not in anyone's gift. Stated per journey.

Physical grade

Walking distance, steps, standing time and altitude — the things that decide whether a journey is possible for the person actually going.

Senior & access fit

Whether a journey suits elderly travellers or anyone with limited mobility, said plainly rather than left to be discovered.

Meals & observance

Vegetarian, satvik or Jain provision only where it is contracted with the kitchen — never assumed.

Before we suggest anything

What we'll ask you.

  • The age and the honest fitness of everyone travelling — this decides the journey more than the destination does. Char Dham on foot and Char Dham by helicopter are the same four shrines and completely different trips.

  • Whether anyone has a cardiac or respiratory condition, or uncontrolled blood pressure. Kedarnath sits at 3,580 m and the Kailash parikrama crosses 5,630 m; these are medical questions, not paperwork.

  • Whether the point is one specific darshan or the whole circuit. If it is the Bhasma Aarti or a particular aarti, we apply the day you confirm and tell you the answer in writing.

  • Your dates, early. Most of these have a season of a few months and two of them have two separate windows — a July enquiry for Char Dham cannot be fulfilled at any price.

  • Whether you want the flights from Chennai in the same quotation. Almost everyone does, and it is the part a Haridwar or Kathmandu operator cannot do for you.

Common questions

Can you guarantee a VIP darshan or skip the queue?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something that is not theirs. Where a temple genuinely offers a paid special-entry, aarti pass or priority slot — Somnath and Ujjain do, for instance — we apply for it, name the cost, and show you the confirmation. Where it does not exist we say so. We will never describe a request as secured.
Can you book the Kedarnath helicopter for us?
Not the shuttle, and it is worth understanding why. The Kedarnath and Hemkund helicopter shuttle is sold only on IRCTC's HeliYatra portal, capped at two tickets per registered user and locked to your registered yatra date — no agent can hold or aggregate those seats. We tell you when the booking window opens and what to have ready. The five-day Char Dham helicopter tour is a different product entirely: a licensed charter operator's fixed departure, which we do sell.
Is the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra the government one?
No. The Government of India runs its own Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Ministry of External Affairs, allocated by ballot, and it cannot be bought from any travel agent including us. Our two Kailash journeys go through Nepal — overland via Kerung, or flying in via Lhasa — on an established Nepali operator's fixed departure, with the Tibet group visa and permits arranged. Both are genuinely sellable. Neither is the MEA programme.
Why is there no price on these?
Because we have not costed them yet, and a number we cannot stand behind is worse than no number. Each of these needs a quote from the ground operator who will actually run it. Until that exists you get a price built for your dates, your group size and your rooms — not a figure we reverse-engineered from a competitor's website.
Are the flights from Chennai included?
Quoted in the same document, separately itemised. Every journey here needs air from Chennai and most route through a hub, and handling international and domestic ticketing is what Champion has done since 1991 — it is not an add-on for us. What we will not do is fold an indicative airfare into a package price and let you discover the real one later.
My parents want to go but cannot walk far. Which of these work?
Dwarka and Somnath is the gentlest — flat ground, short walks, no altitude. Ujjain and Omkareshwar is close behind. Char Dham by helicopter reduces the hardest walk from 16 km to a few hundred metres, though it still means 3,580 m at Kedarnath. Pashupatinath and Muktinath reaches real Himalayan ground with a jeep to the shrine. Kailash, either routing, we would talk you out of — and offer Muktinath instead.

Tell us who is travelling.

Ages, mobility, and whether anyone in the group cannot manage steps, long standing or altitude. That changes the plan more than the destination does. A specialist replies within 4 working hours.
