Malaysia, Island First, City After
3 in Langkawi + 2 in Kuala Lumpur · Breakfast
Three days where nothing is scheduled before breakfast, then a city to come back down in.

Malaysia
Orangutans on Tuesday, and by Friday you are eating your way through George Town.
Nine days that start with islands and white-water and end with Penang's food streets — and put a rainforest lodge on the Kinabatangan river in the middle. Two river cruises for wildlife, the orangutan centre at feeding time, and the sun bears next door. This is Borneo, not a city break with a beach attached.
Day by day
Arrival and a city tour — the floating mosque, Atkinson Clock Tower, Jalan Gaya and the old Sabah Tourism building.
Kota Kinabalu · Borneo
By boat to two islands off the city. Snorkelling and water sports are there if you want them; a packed lunch is provided.
Grade I–II rafting on the Kiulu — roughly two hours on the water, briefing and equipment included. Back to the city by evening.
Fly to Sandakan, then Gomantong caves and a road-and-boat transfer to the lodge. Afternoon tea, briefing, and your first river cruise at four.
An early cruise or a jungle trek to the ox-bow lake for birds, a slow middle of the day, and a second cruise at four.
The orangutan centre for the ten o'clock feeding, the sun bear centre next door, lunch, then the afternoon flight to Penang.
A private walk through George Town — the shophouses, the food, the coffee. The evening is yours.
George Town · Penang
The funicular up Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si, and The Habitat along the canopy walk.
ESCAPE Penang for the morning, Batu Ferringhi beach, then the airport.
