The journey

Fourteen nights is the point at which panchakarma stops being a spa week and becomes the thing it is named after: proper purvakarma, a full structured course, and enough days afterwards for the physician to see how you responded. Ninety minutes from Chennai, and a fraction of what the equivalent costs in Europe.

Before you book

The programme
Full panchakarma — purvakarma, main course and paschatkarma, prescribed at consultation.
Minimum stay
Fourteen nights, and this one is not negotiable. Seven nights is a genuine reset — better sleep, lighter digestion, a calmer mind — but it cannot address anything long-standing. Twenty-one nights is the version for chronic or relapsing problems. We would rather move your dates than sell you a fortnight's treatment in five days.
Medical standard
Physician-led, with BAMS-registered Ayurvedic doctors. We ask every centre for their physicians' registration before we place anyone — the market has operators marketing spa treatments as genuine Ayurveda, and the difference is the whole product.
Who it suits
Someone who can genuinely give it a fortnight and wants the real thing. Not a holiday: the days are quiet, the diet is strict, and you will feel worse before you feel better. Panchakarma has contraindications — pregnancy, certain cardiac conditions, acute illness — so speak to your own doctor first, and the centre will screen you at intake.
When it runs
Year-round. The traditional season is the monsoon, which is exactly when most people assume the country is shut.

What stands out

  • A consultation with a registered Ayurvedic physician before anything is scheduled
  • Proper purvakarma — the oleation and preparation that a short stay skips
  • A full main course, with the physician adjusting it as you respond
  • Days at the end for rasayana and a plan to take home
  • The programme built around your prakriti, not a package menu

Day by day

How the 15 days actually run.

  1. Day 01

    Arrival

Transfer from the airport, settle in, and rest. Nothing is scheduled on the first evening by design.

  2. Day 02

    Consultation

Full consultation with the physician — pulse, constitution, history. Your programme is written today, not before you arrived.

  3. Day 03

    Purvakarma begins

Preparation starts: internal and external oleation, and the diet shifts.

  4. Day 04

    Purvakarma

Preparation continues. Most people feel heavier before they feel lighter; you will be told to expect it.

  5. Day 05

    Purvakarma

    Swedana added. Daily physician review.

  6. Day 06

    Main course begins

The principal procedures start, chosen at consultation.

  7. Day 07

    Main course

Continues. The schedule is deliberately quiet — this is not a sightseeing week.

  8. Day 08

    Review

Mid-programme physician review. The second half is adjusted from what the first half showed.

  9. Day 09

    Main course

    Continues under review.

  10. Day 10

    Main course

The heaviest days are usually behind you by now.

  11. Day 11

    Paschatkarma begins

The programme steps down. Diet reintroduces gradually — doing this badly undoes the fortnight.

  12. Day 12

    Rasayana

Rejuvenation therapies, and the first day you are likely to feel the difference.

  13. Day 13

    Rasayana

Continues. Time in the day to simply be somewhere quiet.

  14. Day 14

    Closing consultation

Final physician review and a written plan for the weeks after you get home.

  15. Day 15

    Departure

    Transfer to the airport.
