Vietnam, Culture First, Island After

Three days of cable cars and lantern light, then two where the sea does all the work.

Duration
6 days · 5 nights
Destination
Vietnam

The journey

Three nights in Da Nang, which is what it takes to give Ba Na Hills and Hoi An a day each instead of cramming them together, and then two nights on Phu Quoc for the An Thoi islands. 4★ at both ends. The honeymoon version of this same route runs the balance the other way — two nights of touring and three on the island — so take this one if you would rather see central Vietnam properly than lie still.

What stands out

  • Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge with a full day to themselves
  • The Marble Mountains in the morning, Hoi An Ancient Town into the lantern hours
  • Son Tra peninsula and Lady Buddha on the afternoon you land
  • The An Thoi archipelago by speedboat, and the Hon Thom cable car across the water

Day by day

How the 6 days actually run.

  1. Day 01

    Da Nang

Arrive, transfer, and the Son Tra peninsula in the late afternoon for Lady Buddha at Linh Ung and the view back down over the bay.

  2. Day 02

    Ba Na Hills

A full day at Ba Na Hills — the cable car up, the Golden Bridge, the gardens and the French village at the top. Back in the city by evening.

Ba Na Hills · Da Nang

  3. Day 03

    Marble Mountains and Hoi An

The Marble Mountains and the Am Phu cave in the morning, then down the coast to Hoi An for the Ancient Town on foot. Stay for the lanterns; back to Da Nang after dark.

    Hoi An

  4. Day 04

    To Phu Quoc

Fly to the island. On most dates this connects rather than flying direct, so the day goes to travelling — check in, and the evening is yours.

    Phu Quoc

  5. Day 05

    The An Thoi islands

A speedboat day through the southern archipelago — four islands, snorkelling stops, lunch aboard — and the Hon Thom cable car, which crosses open sea for most of its length.

  6. Day 06

    Departure

    Transfer to the airport.

What's included

  • 3 nights in a 4★ hotel in Da Nang with breakfast
  • 2 nights in a 4★ beach resort in Phu Quoc with breakfast
  • Son Tra peninsula and Lady Buddha at Linh Ung
  • Ba Na Hills, full day, including the return cable car and park entrance
  • Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son) with the Am Phu cave and the lift
  • Hoi An Ancient Town walking tour, including the Ancient Town entrance ticket
  • An Thoi four-island snorkelling speedboat with lunch, on a sharing basis
  • Hon Thom cable car, return
  • All airport transfers in Da Nang and Phu Quoc
  • Private air-conditioned car with driver on the Da Nang touring days
  • English-speaking guides on the days the itinerary names them
  • Entrance fees wherever applicable

What's not

  • The Da Nang–Phu Quoc domestic flight this routing needs. We book it for you; it is not inside the price shown, and on most dates it connects through Ho Chi Minh City rather than flying direct
  • Optional Phu Quoc excursions — the theme parks, the safari park and the north-island ATV tour — quoted separately on request
  • International flights
  • Visa fees and processing
  • Travel insurance
  • Meals not named in the itinerary
  • Personal expenses, tips and porterage
  • Peak-season and festive surcharges (Jul–Aug surcharges quoted separately)
  • Anything not listed under Inclusions
  • Land only · per person · twin share
  • Minimum 2 travellers
  • Rates are subject to availability and confirmation at the time of booking
  • Indian passport holders require a visa for Vietnam — there is no visa-free entry. The e-visa covers up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and is applied for online; we file it for you and the fee is not inside the price shown
  • Vietnam's domestic flight baggage allowance is lower than your international ticket — we tell you the limit for your routing before you pack
  • Ba Na Hills sits above 1,400 m and the summit is in cloud on a good many mornings — we start the day early for the clearer air and shorter cable-car queues, and nobody can promise you the view
  • The island boat day runs on a sharing basis and the calm-sea season is roughly November to April. Between May and October sailings are cancelled at short notice in weather, and we move the day rather than force it
  • Day 4 is a travelling day by design. We hold the resort check-in against your flight time rather than the other way round
