Vietnam, Four Cities, for Two

Lanterns on the river in Hoi An, and no reason to be anywhere by nine.

Duration
9 days · 8 nights
Destination
Vietnam
Starting from
₹53,999 pp

The journey

The four-city routing run at a couple's pace rather than a family's. The bay from your own balcony, a beach room in Da Nang, Hoi An after dark when the day boats have gone, and two half-days left with nothing in them. Every transfer and tour private, and the museums swapped out for the river.

What stands out

  • A private-balcony cabin on a 4★ overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay
  • Hoi An after dark — the lantern night and a river boat, when the Ancient Town is quiet again
  • The AO Show at the Saigon Opera House, and two half-days deliberately left empty
  • The Han River evening cruise under the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang

Day by day

How the 9 days actually run.

  1. Day 01

    Hanoi

Arrive, transfer in, and an Old Quarter street food walk in the evening — on foot, five or six stops, unhurried.

    Hanoi old quarter

  2. Day 02

    Hanoi

A half-day city tour — the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem, the French quarter — and the afternoon left free. The Thang Long water puppet show in the evening if you want it.

  3. Day 03

    Ha Long Bay

Drive to the coast and board around midday. Lunch aboard, Sung Sot Cave, kayaking, and sunset from your balcony.

    Ha Long Bay

  4. Day 04

    Ha Long, then Da Nang

Morning on the bay, brunch aboard, the drive back to Hanoi and the evening flight to Da Nang.

  5. Day 05

Ba Na Hills, then the river

Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge on the early cars, back by mid-afternoon, and the Han River evening cruise under the Dragon Bridge.

Ba Na Hills · Da Nang

  6. Day 06

    Hoi An, then Saigon

The morning is yours. The Ancient Town on foot in the afternoon and a river boat at dusk as the lanterns come on, then the late flight south.

    Ho Chi Minh City

  7. Day 07

    Saigon

Nothing is scheduled until evening, when the AO Show plays at the Opera House — bamboo, acrobatics and no dialogue, which is the point.

  8. Day 08

    Mekong Delta

A full day out to Ben Tre — sampans through the coconut canals, the orchards and a local lunch, on a private boat rather than the group launch.

    The Mekong Delta

  9. Day 09

    Departure

    Transfer to the airport.

What's not

  • The two domestic Vietnamese flights this routing needs — Hanoi to Da Nang, and Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City. We book them for you; they are not inside the price shown
  • Cu Chi tunnels and the War Remnants Museum, left out on purpose so day 7 can stay empty — quoted on request
  • International flights
  • Visa fees and processing
  • Travel insurance
  • Meals not named in the itinerary
  • Personal expenses, tips and porterage
  • Peak-season and festive surcharges (Jul–Aug surcharges quoted separately)
  • Anything not listed under Inclusions
  • Land only · per person · twin share
  • Minimum 2 travellers
  • Rates are subject to availability and confirmation at the time of booking
  • Indian passport holders require a visa for Vietnam — there is no visa-free entry. The e-visa covers up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and is applied for online; we file it for you and the fee is not inside the price shown
  • Vietnam's domestic flight baggage allowance is lower than your international ticket — we tell you the limit for your routing before you pack
  • On the north-to-south routings we normally ticket you into Hanoi and out of Ho Chi Minh City rather than as a round trip — it is usually cheaper and saves you a backtrack
  • Ha Long cruises sail at the port authority's discretion and are held in port in bad weather — if that happens we move you to a day cruise and a hotel night, and refund the difference
  • Sea-view rooms, balcony cabins and AO Show seats are all limited and confirmed at booking — we do not hold them open, and nobody can
  • Hoi An's Ancient Town is pedestrianised in the evening; the car waits at the edge and the last stretch is a ten-minute walk on cobbles
