Vietnam, the Grand Circuit

A week that starts in mist on limestone and ends barefoot on the Gulf of Thailand.

Duration
8 days · 7 nights
Destination
Vietnam
Starting from
₹59,999 pp

The journey

Three parts, and none of them repeats the last: the north and Ha Long Bay, the central coast at Da Nang, then two nights on Phu Quoc to finish — the cable car and a day on the water. Phu Quoc is what makes this different from every Hanoi-to-Saigon week on the market — a cable car over open sea, and a day among the islands it crosses.

What stands out

  • A night aboard a 4★ overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay, with Sung Sot Cave and kayaking
  • Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge, then Son Tra peninsula and Lady Buddha above Da Nang
  • The Hon Thom cable car out over the sea — close to eight kilometres of it, and the longest three-rope system built
  • A three-island snorkelling speedboat through the An Thoi archipelago, and a last day with nothing in it

Day by day

How the 8 days actually run.

  1. Day 01

    Hanoi

Arrive and transfer in. The Old Quarter on foot in the evening, with a coffee stop on Train Street.

    Hanoi old quarter

  2. Day 02

    Hanoi

City touring — the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem lake and the French quarter, and the Thang Long water puppet show in the evening.

  3. Day 03

    Ha Long Bay

Drive to the coast and board the overnight cruise around midday. Lunch aboard, Sung Sot Cave, kayaking and Titop Island, and sunset from the deck.

    Ha Long Bay

  4. Day 04

    Ha Long, then Da Nang

Morning on the bay, brunch aboard, then the drive back to Hanoi and the evening flight to Da Nang.

  5. Day 05

    Ba Na Hills

A full day at Ba Na Hills — the cable car, the Golden Bridge and the gardens — on the early cars, back to the coast by late afternoon.

Ba Na Hills · Da Nang

  6. Day 06

    Son Tra, then Phu Quoc

Son Tra peninsula and Lady Buddha in the morning, then the flight to Phu Quoc, which normally connects through Ho Chi Minh City. Evening free on the island.

    Phu Quoc

  7. Day 07

    Phu Quoc

The Hon Thom cable car in the morning, then a three-island snorkelling speedboat through the An Thoi group with lunch aboard, and sunset from the beach.

  8. Day 08

    Departure

    Transfer to Phu Quoc airport.

  • Hon Thom cable car
  • Three-island An Thoi snorkelling speedboat with lunch and equipment

What's not

  • The two domestic Vietnamese flights this routing needs — Hanoi to Da Nang, and Da Nang to Phu Quoc, which normally connects through Ho Chi Minh City. We book them for you; they are not inside the price shown
  • Phu Quoc's other parks and attractions — VinWonders, Vinpearl Safari, Grand World and the north-island ATV tour are all quotable, and none of them is included
  • International flights
  • Visa fees and processing
  • Travel insurance
  • Meals not named in the itinerary
  • Personal expenses, tips and porterage
  • Peak-season and festive surcharges (Jul–Aug surcharges quoted separately)
  • Anything not listed under Inclusions
  • Land only · per person · twin share
  • Minimum 2 travellers
  • Rates are subject to availability and confirmation at the time of booking
  • Indian passport holders require a visa for Vietnam — there is no visa-free entry. The e-visa covers up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and is applied for online; we file it for you and the fee is not inside the price shown
  • Vietnam's domestic flight baggage allowance is lower than your international ticket — we tell you the limit for your routing before you pack
  • On the north-to-south routings we normally ticket you into Hanoi and out of Ho Chi Minh City rather than as a round trip — it is usually cheaper and saves you a backtrack
  • Ha Long cruises sail at the port authority's discretion and are held in port in bad weather — if that happens we move you to a day cruise and a hotel night, and refund the difference
  • Phu Quoc's island boats do not run in a rough southwest monsoon sea, roughly June to September, and the call is the harbour master's on the morning — November to April is the settled window
  • Both cable cars, Ba Na Hills and Hon Thom, close in high wind at the operator's call; no cable car anywhere can be promised for a given day
