The journey

Three nights with almost nothing booked before four in the afternoon, because on this island the reason to be here is what happens at the end of the day. One evening goes out for the sunset and stays out after dark for the squid boats — lamps over the side, lines down, dinner aboard. Another walks Sunset Town at An Thoi in the last hour of light. The two days in between are yours until late afternoon, and that is the design rather than a thin itinerary.

How the 4 days actually run.

  1. Day 01

    Arrive, Long Beach

    Land, transfer, check in, and the evening on the beach at your own pace.

  2. Day 02

    Nothing until four

    The day is deliberately unbooked. At four you board the sunset cruise, and the boat stays out after dark for squid fishing, with dinner aboard.

  3. Day 03

    Sunset Town

    A free morning and afternoon, then down the island to An Thoi for Sunset Town at the last of the light, and back for dinner.

  4. Day 04

    Departure

    Breakfast, then the airport.

  • The sunset cruise and the squid fishing run on a sharing basis and are weather-dependent; a private boat is quotable on request
  • Squid fishing is fishing. The lamps, the lines and the crew are included; a catch is not something anyone can promise you
  • Boats out of An Thoi are most reliable from November to April — in the southwest monsoon a sailing can be called off on the morning, and we move it or refund that component
